Just log on to the health and weight loss sites of the Internet and you will be confronted with a baffling array of vitamin and mineral supplements.  The ads narrating their benefits can overwhelm even the hardened skeptics. They are touted as indispensable additions even to the nourishing diets of healthy people. They claim to reduce your weight, build your muscles and even cure numerous diseases.

The question is: Are they really as essential and nourishing as they are advertised to be?  The answer is No.

The truth is that you do not need to supplement your food with vitamins and minerals if you are already getting them in adequate supply. You do not need them if you eat a healthy and well-balanced diet from natural resources.

The secret of staying healthy and slim is to take fresh foods, fruits and vegetables. We should   resist the temptation for unhealthy and fatty junk food. It is also advisable to drink plenty of water and live an active life.
