Three Best First Choices For Treating A Slipped Disc?

How can I repair my slipped disc? What are the three best first choices I have for treating a herniated disc? Whether you call it a slipped disc, herniated disc or a bulding disc. The results are the same. A disc has extended out beyond your vertebrae and is pressing or pinching a nerve. In most case the nerve is your Sciatic Nerve. The Sciatic Nerve is the largest nerve in your body it runs along your spine and branches down both legs. Due to some type of trauma, like an automobile accident or incorrectly lifting, a disc which serves as a flexible cushion between vertebrae has buldged out and is putting pressure on your sciatic nerve causing pain. This pain can radiate down your leg or legs. In some cases your leg and feet can feel numb. My own experience was that I had quite a bit of pain and numbness in my right leg. So my question to my doctor was “How can I repair my disc

and stop the pain?

Here are three treatment choices you should consider first:

1. Do Nothing: As crazy as it sounds in some cases the pain will go away without needing anything more

than over the counter anti-inflammation medicine. So do not panic! By all means see your doctor if the pain persists.

2. See a Physical Therapist: Your physician may send you to a physical therapist you will elvaluate your

problem and prescribe a series of exercises. Again this maybe all you need. A trained therapist can really help ease and prevent the pain of a herniated disc from returning.

3. Visit a Chiropractor: These professionals are trained in treating spinal problems and can be the solution your are searching for providing relief to your suffering.

As you can see there are ways to repair that slipped disc. For some it may only require some medication and a short rest, for others a program of exercises, therapy or manipulation will stop the pain. Actually only a minority of people with back problems need surgery. So if you are experiencing back pain from a bulding disc, do not despair!

The real question you need to ask is “How do I prevent and or cure lower back pain?  How do I lose the pain and get on with my life? Well the answer is to find a system that strengthens the back and abdominal muscles correcting muscle imbalance. Chiropractors Can Ease The Pain Of A Herniated Disc

Chiropractors can ease the pain of a herniated disc. Many people turn to a chiropractor for help after experiencing back pain. Chiropractors realize that the health of the back can affect the entire body. If the back is out of alignment, it can offset the hips, legs, shoulders, and neck. That is why chiropractors focus on healing the back as part of the whole. Since back pain is located in the core of the body, seeking help from chiropractic services can help to alleviate the need for other special treatments.

The goal of the chiropractor is to find the underlying cause of the pain. Their techniques seek to cure the pain at its source instead of merely masking it with prescriptions. Chiropractic services use gentle and natural methods in order to help back pain. These methods range in technique from massage to electric stimuli. Surgery may be required from time to time, but is largely avoided with chiropractic services.

People who receive chiropractic services to help with back pain find that the treatments are far more successful than with traditional medicine. The treatments help to alleviate their pain in a way that is comfortable and lasting. Since the techniques are gentle, patients can look forward to progressively more relaxing treatments and time goes on. Once the original problem that was causing pain is taken care of, the number of office visits can be decreased over time. This means that ultimately, a person who suffers from pain can discontinue visits. This option is not nearly as common with traditional medicine. So if you are suffering from a herniated disc try a chiropractor for pain relief.

But how do you prevent and or cure lower back pain? How do you lose the pain and get on with your life? Three Exercises To Speed Your Recovery From A Herniated Disc

Years ago the common wisdom was that rest was the best way to recover from a herniated dis. We now know that this is false. The best way to recover is to exercise. Afer my surgery for a slipped disc the I asked the doctor how long I would have to stay on my back. he said that the best thing I could do was to walk! He wanted me to walk every day and start physical therapy in two weeks.

Once I had completed therapy. Which consisted of a regular program of exercise, I was free to try anything I want to do. The only advice I got was to take it easy at first, but don’t be afraid to push yourself a little. The critical thing was to strengthen my core muscles. Strengthening the core was essentail to my recovery and prevention of future back problems. Below are three exercise that if done regularly will help you recover faster and keep you pain free.  The key to recovering from a herniated disc is not to have one. If you are suffering from a ruptured disc see you doctor before begining any exercise routine.

Plank: Get down on all fours. Lower your forearms to the deck. Your body should form a straight line from head to heels. Hold for as long as you can. If you’re under 15 seconds, you generally have a de-conditioned core. Work at this until you get stronger.

Reverse Plank: Similar to the move above where you’re in a straight line except you’ll want to flip yourself over so you’re on your elbows and your heels down. Look up at the sky. Keep your glutes contracted and hips flexed. Hold as long as you can.

Supermans: Lie on your stomach and lift both arms and legs several inches off the floor. Do that simultaneously and hold for 10-15 seconds. Rest and repeat. You can also alternate with right arm and left leg lifted and repeated on other side.

These moves will help strengthen the core muscles, which will protect the lumbar spine much better. There are many exercise that can help you recover from a herniated disc.
